Hi 👋 I'm Lian

I am a Cloud Native expert with over 15 years of industry experience and a performance artist.

Starting out in Web Development, I have worked in Frontend, Backend and DevOps teams, and was fortunate enough to observe the mainstream adoption of Containers and Cloud Native practices in real time. I am well versed and highly experienced on topics of Software Delivery, CI/CD, GitOps and Platform Engineering.

For the past six years, I have worked as Cloud Native Consultant and Developer Advocate, focusing strongly on the needs of Developers and Development teams. In my client projects, I supported internal teams in conceiving, building, and maintaining CI/CD platforms at scale. When needed, I occupied multiple roles at once, such as Engineer, Architect and Product Owner.

Since 2016, I have been speaking on technical and non-technical topics at conferences all over the world. I have over a decade of experience working with Open Source projects and communities and have created strong relationships with Developers and DevOps practitioners alike. As Co-Chair for the Cloud Native Computing Foundation’s (CNCF) Technical Advisory Group on App Delivery, I enable the community in their efforts to improve and standardise practices around Software Delivery. As part of the Platforms Working Group, I co-authored the CNCF's Platforms White Paper.

In my work, I strive to put a strong emphasis on empathy, psychological safety and education to foster a productive work environment. I believe that technology needs to serve the people using it, not the other way around, and my efforts in improving tools and processes for humans reflects this belief.
